Inside Renewable Energy Bringing Down the Installed Cost of Solar PV

Companies all along the solar supply chain are working hard to reduce the cost of their products. But the buck ultimately stops with the installer, who delivers the product to the consumer. By creating products and building training programs that help the installer do his job more efficiently, the cost of developing a project will inevitably fall. In this podcast, we've got a roundtable discussion from the American Solar Energy Society's National Solar Conference on how to reduce the installed cost of solar PV. Barry Cinnamon, CEO of Akeena Solar, talks about the company's push for integrated residential solar systems, which reduce the cost of installation by up to 10 percent. He'll also tell us about the company's decision to merge the Andalay brand with Westinghouse, creating Westinghouse Solar. Tim Polega, VP of engineering and construction for Inovateus Solar, discusses how to more efficiently develop projects in the more complicated commercial PV sector. And Steve Daniel, Chief Sales Officer for CentroSolar, talks about the company's residential and commercial solar packages that reduce installation time. He'll also discuss the importance of the company's effort to train installers about CentroSolar products. Inside Renewable Energy is a weekly audio news program featuring stories and interviews on all the latest developments in the renewable energy industries.
